Talmage Collection

2008 Chardonnay

Site

Piper Ranch is located at 2000′ elevation 3-miles inland from the Mendocino Coast within the Mendocino Ridge Appellation. This highly regarded growing region consists of discontinuous ridge-tops defined primarily by elevation — all above 2000′. Piper Ranch sits on a rugged ridgeline above the sea and is meticulously managed to yield fruit with distinct character.

Vinification

We fermented our 2008 Talmage Chardonnay in a combination of new French & American oak. Secondary mal-lactic fermentation was completed on half the lot to round out the pallet and produce a well-balanced wine. The wine was also aged sur lie before bottling enhancing complexity. Enjoy!

About Talmage

In reverence to a region that extends east and south amongst the foothills of Ukiah, referred to by locals as Talmage, this collection of wines are intense, barrel-aged beauties and elegant expressions of place. Produced from select high-elevation, small-lot vineyard sites with grapes grown by some the area’s most pioneering viticulturists, each wine’s character reflects a strong commitment to balanced, sustainable farming.
