Old River

2006 Cabernet Sauvignon

Site

The Ponderosa Vineyard is located at 1900’ elevation along the west slope of the Sierra Foothills near the town of Grass Valley. Hot dry days and cool nights make this an ideal location for mountain grown Cabernet Sauvignon.

Vinification

Our 2006 Cabernet is comprised of 75% Cabernet Sauvignon 20% Cabernet Franc and 5% Merlot. The wine is barrel aged in high quality new French oak barrels for 8 months prior to blending and bottling to provide a well-structured complex pallet. Look for ripe fruit, black currant and berries.

About Old River Cellars

These fruit-forward, medium-bodied wines are produced from certified organic vineyards. We source our Cabernet Sauvignon from Ponderosa Vineyard, a unique high-elevation site along the Sierra Nevada Mountain’s western slopes. The grapes develop during hot days, cool nights and with the tender care of long-time organic farmers.
