2005 Fairbairn Ranch Syrah

Our 2005 Syrah is produced from 100% Syrah of the fabled Fairbairn Ranch, located on the southeastern bench lands of the Ukiah Valley in the upper Russian River watershed. The Fairbairn Ranch is Demeter certified Biodynamic indicating the highest level of grape quality.
We have selectively harvested grapes from two different lots to optimize quality and have worked to retain the unique flavors of Mendocino County’s microclimates. The Redvine soils of the Fairbairn Ranch are high in iron, reddish in color, gravelly and well drained. The two lots were fermented separately in the finest French oak barrels and blended prior to bottling.
Vinification
Our 2005 Syrah shows uncommon depth and color, and exhibits aromatic flavors of smoked game, blueberries and ripe black cherry. This wine is produced in a style that will allow for continued development over time or with decanting.

We source the grapes for these wines from three Demeter certified Biodynamic vineyards, Heart Arrow, Fairbairn and Dark Horse Ranches, each a family-owned, historical vineyard in Mendo’s high bench lands revered for deep sandy clay loam known for producing distinct wines. They are small-batch, handcrafted wines reflecting a farming tradition that harmonizes the subtle forces of nature. Full-bodied, rich, ripe berry flavors exude the agricultural organism, the farm.
