2005 Cabernet Sauvignon

Our 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon is produced from 100% Cabernet Sauvignon grown at the Heart Arrow Ranch, located on the northern hillsides of the Ukiah Valley in the upper headwaters of the Russian River watershed. The Heart Arrow Ranch is Demeter certified Biodynamic indicating the highest level of grape quality.
We selected only the finest lots of Cabernet Clone 377 from the 2005 harvest to be included in this varietal bottling. High quality new French oak barrels were used for aging and separate lots were blended prior to bottling.
Vinification
The Redvine soils of the Heart Arrow Ranch are consistent with out other high elevation vineyard sites in the Ukiah Valley and provide a unique terroir that is increasingly recognized for producing wines of distinction. Redvine soils are high in iron, reddish in color, gravelly and well drained.
Our 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon shows uncommon depth, rich in color, and exhibits aromatic and flavors of dark fruit, mocha and spice. This wine is produced in a style that will allow for continued development over time or with decanting.

We source the grapes for these wines from three Demeter certified Biodynamic vineyards, Heart Arrow, Fairbairn and Dark Horse Ranches, each a family-owned, historical vineyard in Mendo’s high bench lands revered for deep sandy clay loam known for producing distinct wines. They are small-batch, handcrafted wines reflecting a farming tradition that harmonizes the subtle forces of nature. Full-bodied, rich, ripe berry flavors exude the agricultural organism, the farm.
