Nelson Family Vineyards embodies rural farm living in Southern Mendocino County near the town of Hopland. The family owned estate has evolved from plum growing and sheep farming to growing vineyards, Bartlett pears, and Christmas trees. The majority of the farm is underdeveloped rangeland with over 200 acres planted with eleven varietals of wine grapes. For our purposes, the hot, dry summers and cool, wet winters, both characteristic of inland Mendo, and the well-drained soils are ideal for Cabernet Sauvignon grapes.
