At Mariah Vineyard, the vines are dry farmed for better varietal character and flavors. Dan and his wife Vicky came to the property in the late ‘70s to create a vineyard and raise their family. They tend the vines by hand in the clear mountain air, as the Pacific Ocean makes waves below them. This is their home and they treat it with care, preserving the land by growing their grapes sustainably, tending to the needs of the land, such that it will be healthy and vibrant for their children and grandchildren. Mariah Vineyard is a warm spot in a cool climate, Dan calls it “viticulture on the edge” and their methods produce some seriously nuanced and distinctive wines.
